B&W 600x900When Erin with Living in Yellow posted her “5 Things I Never Blog About”, I knew I had to jump on that bandwagon. There are approximately 5 billion blogs out there – and just as many blog topics. And yet, we as bloggers are expected to find a unique niche. It’s harder than you think, people!

I kind of don’t care about the “niche” thing – even though after thinking about this post, I realize that I actually do have a niche. I am not a lifestyle blogger. I am not a DIY blogger. I am not a mommy blogger. I think I am just a “resource and research blogger”. Hence, here are 5 things I never blog about:

My marriage, love story, engagement story or husband’s name

I know this sounds like I am avoiding the one topic everyone loves, but I decided when I started this blog that I would keep that part of me private.  I adore my husband, and I do mention him a lot.  But, you will never find his name or picture on here – and you won’t find a 15-post long series about every aspect of our relationship.  Yep, I am not much of a lifestyle blogger.

OOTD (Outfit of the Day)

I have decided that taking long pictures of myself in the mirror terrifies me.  It’s the thing I like the least.  I don’t want to have to have my hair done.  I don’t want to tell you where my clothes came from, and honestly, I am just not a fashion blogger :).  Bre summed it up here perfectly with her open letter to fashion bloggers.  I do love talking about my favorite wardrobe basics and research, though!

My weight, income information, medical history, or when I have a pimple

Too personal, people!  Oh, and no gory medical photos here.  Ugh.  (Well, I have posted some tips that I developed because of my itchy legs problem.  At least I didn’t post any pictures of my actual legs.  You’re welcome.)

Everyday boring events

I don’t want to talk about when I go to the bank.  Or that I spent 2 hours waiting in line.  I probably won’t even tell you about the fun everyday events, like the weekend vacations I take.  Daily summaries are a dime a dozen, and my life isn’t that extraordinary.  If you are lucky, I will sit down and have coffee with you – and get a little more personal than I normally do.

Baby names for my future children

It is no secret that I am obsessed with  baby names.  And, it is no secret that my husband and I talk about them every day.  No joke.  We will never get tired of the “What about…?” game.  But names that I really want to use for our future children?  That’s not happening on this blog.  It might not even happen if you are one of my friends I see in real-life.  And, just to warn you, if and when I do get pregnant, this won’t turn into a mommy blog with bump updates and mommy thoughts.  I have personal opinions about sharing baby pictures and details on the interwebs, and all that will most likely be completely private.  Sorry!

Now I want to know.  What is one thing you will never blog about
