This weekend has been quite cold for the first days of spring – and I love it!  It is perfect for staying in, having a warm mug of something to drink, cuddling up, and enjoying life.  These are my favorite kind of days, and I miss them come summer.  On days like this, I try to fill up my five senses.  I am a very sensory person, and I am slightly addicted to finding comfort on every level.  This is a little dangerous when I find myself in an inherently discomforting situation, but in general I am most refreshed when all of my senses are saturated.  Here are my favorite feelings today.
Cozy
Tasting:  My friend Jen sent me a box of Celestial Seasoning True Blueberry Herbal Tea and I am in love.  I am crazy about blueberry-flavored hot drinks (including the now-extinct Coffee-Mate Blueberry Cobbler Coffee Creamer and Dunkin Donuts blueberry flavored coffee).  My taste buds love this new blueberry delight.  Try it with a splash of milk and Stevia.  Ah!  It’s like blueberry paradise.
rihanna-stay
Listening:  I am loving Rihanna’s new “Stay”.  It is mellow, romantic, beautiful.  The music video is one scene shot in a bathtub, so that is a little weird.  But, the song is gorgeous!
kitchen1Smelling:  Ah!  I have been burning my Yankee Candle “Macintosh” all winter.  I love apple scents, and this one makes my kitchen all cozy.

If you want to make an amazing homemade scent-burner in your kitchen, here is an easy recipe:

Ingredients:

Cinnamon sticks

Apple peels

Orange rinds

Whole cloves

Fill a small saucepan with water and bring to a boil. Add the ingredients and continue to boil for a few minutes, then turn the heat down to simmer. Add water as needed, usually every 30 minutes or so.

CozyTouching: I had my first experience sewing hexagons this weekend with my best quilting friend :).  That got me looking at pretty quilting fabric.  And that led me to dreaming about pretty quilts.  Here is a fabric set that just is beautiful.  I might have found a new hobby!

Seeing:  This weekend I was encouraged by our pastor’s sermon on joy.  I am going to interpret “seeing” as “believing” and leave you with this verse:

Nehemiah 8: 9-10

And Nehemiah, who was the governor, Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who taught the people said to all the people, “This day is holy to the Lord your God; do not mourn nor weep.” For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the Law.  Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

If eating the fat, drinking the sweet, sending out portions, not sorrowing, and receiving joy isn’t pure comfort, I don’t know what is!  Be blessed this day!

Make your day cozy!
