So Jess and I have really missed each other. We used to talk every week – and then the “No Plan” Menu Plan came to a close, and we were left hanging:). So, we decided to create an awesome new series – focused around real-life fashion!
We are both frustrated with fashion posts that revolve around $1,000 items. And items that only can be found at Kate Spade. And we both have very tiny budgets. So, we introduce:
Real Life Fashion: 2 Girls, 2 Cities, 1 Budget, 1 Wardrobe
This is what’s going down. Each episode will feature:
- One store (Target, Forever 21, Old Navy…etc.)
- One outfit under $100
- Both Misses and Plus-Size fits
- Wardrobe Basics
- A few trendy accessories
We are both going to try on the same outfit – and give tips for our size-type. We will throw in some fun unique pieces, but we really want to focus on the basics. We both love items that are versatile and classic – and stand the test of time. This series won’t be every week – but we will feature it every now and then to give you awesome new seasonal favorites.
Oh, and neither of us will be using affiliate links – in case you care about that :).
This week we both tried on this outfit at Target! We are itching for fall – and honestly, this outfit was perfect. This is what our outfit features:
Black Leggings – I am firm believer in “leggings aren’t pants!”, so we both found gorgeous tunic-like shirts to make these leggings work! These leggings are only $8 and were really well-made!.
Denim Tunic – I haven’t been brave enough for the denim top look yet – and that’s about to change! I love how this shirt felt – and seriously could see myself wearing this everywhere! **Note: I tried on this maternity shirt. Yes, a maternity shirt! It added length – and instead of using it’s “I’m pregnant” waistband tie, I just used a belt instead. Jess tried on this plus-size shirt.**
Skinny Belts – For me, belts are a STAPLE. We love the 2 for $14 skinny belts at Target. I have a few of these belts and love them. Read more about my love of these belts in my Denim 101 post here.
Cheetah Scarf – I am really into animal print – I love it so much. This scarf is totally a neutral. It wasn’t an infinity scarf, but I tied the ends together. BTW – that’s an easy tip to make an flowy scarf an infinity scarf :).
Ankle Boots – Jess and I were both nervous about the ankle boots. But, we have to say, they are gorgeous! We both picked too different brown boots – and loved them both. The ones I tried on were super comfortable, and really really cute! Jess picked these and I picked these.

I am really sorry about the grainy photo! I had to ask a super sweet lady to take it – and it was super awkward :). Oh – and I’m in front of the men’s underwear. Whoops. Sorry!
