While many of us think of Memorial Day as the unofficial beginning of summer, I hope all of us take time to stop and remember the true meaning of Memorial Day – to remember those who have paid the ultimate price for our freedom.
Sometimes I forget how proud am I of those who have served. I forget that shiver I feel when widows weap over their husbands’ graves. I forget how I cry at military commissionings when the next generation of military men and women are sent out into the world to defend me. I forget how much I love the United States of America.
Join me in honoring those who have served today.
